Coaches

coach_millerBrandon Nathaniel Rogers- Mt. Carmel High School Assistant Varsity Coach, 7th Grade Boys Club Coach
Attended Irvine Valley and  Menlo College. He coached various Bay Area AAU teams before joining the Sundevils.

About basketball: "My favorite part of the game is defense, I love seeing how a team can work together to not only stop but also frustrate and dictate what the other team does. I love coaching unselfishness and ball movement, I think that's what makes the most effective offense."

Outside Basketball: Melvin and Betty Rogers are my parents. I have one sister Samantha Fields who is married Milton Fields and I have two nephews Isaiah and Christian, and another nephew/niece on the way! Really basketball is my life, but when I'm not watching, playing, or coaching I play video games, watch lots of movies, and try and read as much as I can.

Mike Johnson- Mt. Carmel High School Girls JV, Girls 7/8 Grade Club Coach
Attended Trenton Catholic Boys High School, Trenton NJ where he was a shooting guard, 20th ranked team in the Nation. He also received a basketball scholarship, Rider College, where he was a teammate of Digger Phelps. He has coached at Mramonte HS in Orinda, CA and for Poway HS before joining Mt. Carmel as the Boys Freshman and JV coach.

About Basketball: "I love to practice with my kids and shooting the ball!"

Outside Basketball:  "I enjoy reading in Astronomy and Science, history and historical novels, bird watching and backpacking, classic rock and contemporary jazz  music.

Mike Miller- 5th/6th Grade Boys Club Coach
Played for The University of Dundee, Scotland; All-Scotland team starting point guard; Gold Medal All-U.K. Tournament, Dublin, Northern Ireland.  He has coached for the last two years with Sundevil Club middle school teams.

About basketball:  "watching the improvement of the players over the course of the season and then watching their continuing improvement as they progress towards HS varsity.  I really enjoy teaching a team to understand a half-court offense; and to play aggressive, physical defense."

Outside of basketball:   two boys, a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) who plays varsity tennis; 1 a senior at Poway HS – varsity basketball (off guard / point guard)and varsity volleyball (setter); wife, Rainy (a former collegiate tennis player, winner of Arthur Ashe Award her senior year; still plays several times each week).  His other hobby is backpacking.
